Resting Place

Today was Memorial Day which means that, driven by a heightened sense of patriotism, most people over here don’t go to work. By chance it was also a beautiful early summer day, blue sky and 22°c out with a light breeze blowing. Acting completely out of character, I therefore took my bike and went adventuring in the outside world.

Reading in the shade

Turns out the west bank of the Seekonk river, just north of my house, is lined with parks and green spaces as well as a very large cemetery. It didn’t take long at all to find a relatively remote spot under a tree to have a little picnic and read my book for a while while sipping cider. I made friends with a couple of hungry squirrels and a caterpillar, got some quiet, some sun and fresh air. Hey, maybe that’s what they all fought for…
