From a mail I sent last friday:
I bought a laptop from user cwah267 on Jan 25th, 2008, through paypal. At the time, the user had two positive feedbacks from pmedic71 and shootmove, both concerning the sale of laptops as well. Communication with the seller has been difficult. Although they claim to have shipped the laptop on monday 01/28, they have been unable to provide a tracking number.
They have now stopped replying to my enquiries. This morning, two negative feedbacks have appeared on their profile, concerning frauds for two more laptops never delivered after payment.
Furthermore, pmedic71 appears to have been victim of an identity theft and the feedback they left for cwah267 is now very supicious. In the meantime, cwah267 has bought expensive items including several expensive cameras within a few days.
I am extremely worried about this situation and am pretty convinced I was the victim of a scam. Although the 10-day waiting period is not over yet, I wish to file a claim as soon as possible. I have no doubts that at least two other buyers, pa32fly and comtraq_marketplace, have already taken similar steps.
Please take these events into consideration and advise me on the best way to proceed.
Received an answer a couple of days later, stating that the user in question had had their account terminated and please contact paypal regarding buyer’s protection. In all alikelihood, I will get $200 back within a month. The other $1300 however, that’s another story…
So I felt pretty bad about it for a few days, but then I decided to shrug it off and buy the same laptop, again, this time directly from the manufacturer Toshiba. So far the status has been “credit card verification pending” for the past three days…
I may yet get a new laptop eventually. Either that, or maybe I’m just supposed to keep throwing money around until it decides to take root and bear fruit. Aye, why not?
